After the story, ask your child questions such as
Do you have any questions for me about the coronavirus, social distancing, or why we are staying home?
How does it make you feel to be home?
Do you have any worries?
Why are we practicing social distancing and staying away from school, sports, and friends/family?
Book 2: One Good Deed by Terri Fields
After the story, ask and discuss the following:
What happens after the first little boy helps a neighbor?
That’s right, each person took the happiness they got from a simple kindness and they decided to help another person.
Over time, all of the neighbors had helped someone else in their community, leaving the community a much happier place. This is called a ripple effect. When you do something kind, others are more likely to pass on a kindness to someone else. Before you know it, kindnesses have rippled out and spread further and further away from the original source. Eventually that first good deed impacts a whole community, not just one person.
