Dara is the new president of Little Hands Can. She has a strong love for volunteer service, and even met her husband in an AmeriCorp program. She has a B.A. in Communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara and two children. Dara enjoys hiking, reading, dancing, spending time with her family and friends, and helping others.

Dara’s favorite part of the Little Hands Can program is watching children learn to care for others and their community.

Emily Dayton, Secretary | BOard of Directors

Emily is originally from Pennsylvania. She enjoys traveling and has lived in several other countries before settling in Oregon 15 years ago. She has a BA in Applied Anthropology and an AAS in Early Childhood Education. She believes that we need to work together to make the world a better place, and that starts with our families and communities. She enjoys supporting Little Hands Can, and helping to introduce young people to volunteer work. She works in early childhood, and enjoys hanging out with her family and enjoying nature

Krystal Elms, Treasurer

Krystal is originally from Texas but has been steadily working her way to Oregon via Tucson, AZ and Santa Clara, CA and is so glad to finally be settled in Eugene. She has a B.S. of Biology from the University of North Texas, and has worked in both the outdoor industry and biotech non-profits and startups. Her experience includes office and project management, event logistics, and more. As a mother, kindness and helping others has always been a primary focus, and this led naturally to working with other great organizations in our community. Krystal is also the Treasurer for Adventure! Children's Museum and the Founder and Treasuere of MAEVE Eugene, a local chapter of a national non-profit.

AMY ROCKWOOD, Board Member at large

Amy has lived all along the West Coast as well as overseas but has been calling Oregon home for the last 11 years. She graduated with a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Lewis and Clark College and lived in both Japan and Korea before working in logistics in San Francisco. Amy enjoyed her experiences both serving as a Fundraiser Coordinator with Tiny Totes Indoor Playground and helping out at her daughter's school along with being an active member of the PTA. Besides shuttling her daughter to activities, she loves going on new adventures with her family. She is excited to be part of Little Hands Can and encourage kindness and giving back to the community.

Rachel Henderson, communications director

Rachel joined the Little Hands Can team in 2018 as managing director and director of the Happy Helpers program. She is excited to return after her 2021-2022 year living abroad. Rachel is passionate about helping others and loves that LHC provides opportunities for her to share this passion of giving back with her two daughters. Rachel holds a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Washington and enjoys cooking, creating and exploring with her family.

Edon Davenport, Development Director

Edon volunteers with Little Hands Can as the Development Director. She has professional fundraising experience working with non-profits in the Chicago area, with an emphasis in grant writing and special events. Edon holds a masters degree in Human Relations and Business and an undergraduate degree in Psychology.

In her spare time, Edon enjoys yoga, being outdoors and spending time with her husband and children.  Edon says that the best part of working with Little Hands Can is watching her children find joy in serving others.

Miriam Clark, Founder | City Stewards Director

Miriam is one of the founders of Little Hands Can. She came up with the idea for Little Hands Can as a way of teaching her inquisitive girls about social issues through hands on service.  She sees the need for children in the community to learn about the world around them and that as small as their hands may be, they can make a difference.

Miriam stepped down from her position as Executive Director in 2018 in order to start a PhD program at the University of Oregon. She still oversees community events.

Miriam enjoys running, swimming, hiking and, most importantly, spending time with her husband and three girls.
