In 2014, a small, Catholic school in New York embarked on a mission to build a Mary’s Meals kitchen in Malawi. Inspired by the movie Child 31 that tells the story of how Mary’s Meals was founded, the students held nickel drives and fundraisers. In just four months, they raised the $11,500 to build a kitchen at Dzungwi school, Malawi but it didn’t stop there.
Our Happy Helpers families know Annie well. She comes once a month to lead us in stories and songs and has the cutest service projects. We love Annie and all that she does for Little Hands Can while also running a hip business, Baby Bootcamp -Eugene. More important than any of that, however, is how well she's raising her two little girls. When she shared about her oldest helping her dad, I just couldn't get it out of my head and knew you'd love the story too.
This Spotlight on Service comes to us from Sacramento, California. A group of 60 exuberant preschoolers, ages 18 months to 6 years old, learned about our local, non-profit community theater and made beautiful Walk of Fame handprints for the theater to display plus an art project that the theater used as a raffle prize in their monthly auction.
