Simple Service: Hospital Care Kits for Kids

There have been a few occasions when my children have been in the hospital, whether it was for their own ailments or even to visit someone else. During those times they were gifted with a large ziplock bag filled with little toys and things to do. It really helped them to feel calmer and happy. One of my daughters still keeps the little stuffed dog in her bed that was given to her in one of those gift bags. So we were excited to make some of those bags to give back to others.

We got together with neighborhood friends and we all brought different things to contribute such as play doh, stickers, coloring books, slinkies, slime, little cars, etc. The kids all helped assemble the bags and then we took them to the hospital to deliver.

Once we were there we were able to get a little tour of the hospital and the kids loved that. I have found that as we do kind things for others, they want to return the favor and do kind things for us.

Have any of your kids ever received a goody bag at the hosptial before?
