Happy Helpers Re-cap
This school year we started a grand experiment, host a playdate with stories, songs, and service at an assisted living facility every week and see what happens. Remember that announcement? Let's look at how it's gone so far.
September theme: Fall
We made place mats and centerpieces for Meals on Wheels.
October themes: Kindness, Cats, Dogs, Halloween
We painted kindness rocks, made dog & cat toys for the Anti-Cruelty Society, and celebrated Halloween with the residents.
November themes: Veterans, Thanksgiving, and Winter
We decorated pillowcases for soldiers, made illuminated turkey jars for Sacred Heart Medical Center, took home Thankful Turkeys, and started Christmas cards for the Eugene Mission.
December themes: Christmas and Hannukah
We made hundreds of cards for the Eugene Mission, to be placed on every bed on Christmas Eve.
January theme: Healthy Bodies
We made mini first aid kits for the Eugene Mission.
February themes: Valentine's Day and Education
We made valentines for Sacred Heart Medical Center and to take home. We also started the kindergarten graduation awards for children in Haiti.
March themes: Education and Spring
We finished the kindergarten graduation awards for children in Haiti and made bird feeders to take home. We also made flowers for the memory care residents at Waterford Grand and delivered them during the March of the Munchkins on the first day of Spring.
So how is it going? Splendidly! The smiling faces of both young and old are evidence of that, plus we've helped so many other great organizations locally and globally and have discovered just how big a difference we all can make for good.
