Merry Christmas to all!
Since it's Christmas, my daughter and I decided to have some fun with this blog post and write it in (poor) limerick form:
AND in case our poor rhyming didn't make sense, here I'll tell you what we did in pros :) :
As a family we decided to raise money for Hurricane Maria relief efforts together. Here’s how we did it:
1. I made this post on Facebook:
DATE NIGHT FOR A CAUSE!!!! Inspired by a local girl who had a bake sale for kids in Puerto Rico, my girls are planning a fundraiser to also help kids in Puerto Rico. Here's how it works: On December 2nd from 5-7pm they will host a Christmas party where parents can drop off their kids for those two hours. Parents just need to pay whatever they'd normally pay for a babysitter (you decide). ALL proceeds will go directly to Hurricane Maria Children’s Relief Fund. Kids must be at least 1 year old to come over.
2. We planned the party – keeping it simple! We had activities like Play-doh, making paper ornaments, dancing to music, eating pizza, and decorating cookies. The girls chose all the activities and so they were all things we knew kids would like (because they like them), but also all things that required little prep on our parts.
3. We had the party! Parents dropped off the kids. We had about 5 kids come and earned $75. Everyone seemed to have a great time.
4. We donated the money to the Hurricane Maria Childen’s Relief Fund
This could easily be done with your family for Valentine's Day or even just a regular Friday night! If you decide to do it as a family, let us know! We'd love to hear how your party went and what charity you decided to donate to!
