On Saturday, 28 people came to the Little Hands Can community event. Kids and adults worked hard as they planted a garden for the Eugene Mission.
As a team, we planted three large garden beds, got two more ready for planting, cleared numerous barrels of leaves from the ground, and weeded around the children's playground. The mission was impressed with the amount of work we accomplished in the two hours we were there!
When it was over, they invited us to stay for lunch. Though most of the families left, our family decided to stay. As we ate our humble meal from the Mission's very small budget/donations and spoke with some of the guests, I was overcome with gratitude for what I have. I also was overcome with an even stronger desire to give back and help in my community. I hope that my girls felt the same way.
