Last week Little Hands Can had a community event where we made blankets for the Bags of Love program!
Bags of Love is a Eugene nonprofit dedicated to providing kids in crisis with necessary items of their own. Often kids who have transitioned abruptly into foster care have nothing of their own. Bags of Love provides them with a bag of personal hygiene items, a blanket, some clothes, and some toys. Bags of Love works with 54 local agencies to identify kids in need. This past year they donated over 1600 bags to children!
Didn't make it to the activity but would like to get involved? Bags of Love is in need of new pajamas, underwear, diapers, socks and books. They'll also take gently used kids clothing of all sizes. Click here for a full list of what they need. Contact them and find out other ways you can volunteer!
Special thanks to Old School Eugene who donated their space so that we could cut and tie the blankets. 32 people came to help cut and tie and we completed 10 blankets! (See this post for details on how we made them)
